In Progress
"RESURRECTION" a novel:
In the spring of 1976, I met and spent three weeks with the newly elected mayor of Atlanta, Georgia, Maynard Jackson. Becoming the first African-American mayor of a major southern city, his very presence had upset the status quo to such an extent that Atlanta, Georgia, the entire south and politics itself would never be the same. In the wake of the unprecedented accomplishments and influence of Martin Luther King, Maynard changed history. It is my prayer that this contemporary novel is an entertaining but accurate saga, in the spirit of “Roots”. It is my intention to allow readers to put the “minority experience” in context. I want all people to see themselves in the story of this African American family. Prejudice is driven by an ignorance of what you don’t know. It is a lack of understanding or an unwillingness to experience that which is different or new. This story begins in 1939 through the eyes of nine-year-old David Alexander up to the present. As he grows into manhood and our country evolves this story attempts to cover the civil rights and political history of America. "Master of The City" The pitch: a gifted Harlem child orphaned by a tragedy grows into a prolific music star turned business entrepreneur whose entanglements with the mafia and the U.S. government entrap and endanger him while his personal fears and pain prevent him from the woman and people he truly loves. Ending tragically, this three decade story is a cross between Sergio Leon’s “Once Upon A Time In America” and “Godfather II”. Read the full synopsis. "Casting Call" The pitch: a talented young actor aspiring to real career success meets a beautiful VP of a Hollywood commercial production company. Coming from different racial backgrounds the real obstacle to their romance are challenges brought on by business obligations dictated by those in power over artistic and personal integrity. Full of charm, humor and pathos this is an entertaining story about risking all for love. Read the full synopsis. "Chapel Hill" The pitch: A burned out young Marine Chaplin returning from Afghanistan to his home to his neighborhood streets of Oakland /Berkeley California hoping to escape a life of horror and pain is drawn into a territorial dispute between the city and developers who want to demolish the working class neighborhood where he grew up for high rise condos. Struggling with his own spiritual crisis and trusting anyone again, he is inspired by his old pastor to awaken his spirit and to never give up fighting for what matters...love, family, the neighborhood and his Faith. Trying to retire from his violent life, but not seriously enough for his wife Fontana who is divorcing him, Anthony’s team is called in to rescue an American businessman in Russia. The rescue made, it sets off a pursuit of vengeance and violence led by a renegade group of the Russian Mob, now in the states. Anthony’s team is forced to follow his estranged brother Maurice, a music producer to England after Maurice and Fontana are attacked. In England to prepare for a charity concert, Sorin’s group kidnaps Fontana. Sorin’s uncle, Deputy Trigorin, is a high Russian government official. Stalked to London by Trigorin’s bodyguard, Statchi , the situation worsens and becomes more dangerous. With the Royal music concert as the background, Anthony does what he must do to save his estranged wife, amid sibling conflict with his brother and being the target of both Sorin and Statchi. In a climatic confrontation the night of the Charity Concert Anthony and his team attempt to thwart a royal assassination and finally a showdown with both Sorin and Statchi. In the end, evil comes to a violent conclusion and Anthony, still a product of his violent world, is once again a hero but at an extreme cost. Read the full synopsis.
